Real Madrid: José Mourinho shuts the door on the arrival of Lamine Yamal
José Mourinho appreciates the talent of Lamine Yamal, but the Real Madrid coach has no plans to recruit the young prodigy from FC Barcelona. The Portuguese technician believes he already has a squad strong enough to achieve his goals.

Lamine Yamal will not go to Real Madrid, at least if José Mourinho has his way. Asked by El Chiringuito about the rumors regarding a possible transfer of the young Barcelona player to the Spanish capital, the Madrid coach quickly dismissed this possibility. However, the Portuguese did not fail to acknowledge the qualities of the Catalan winger. “Am I going to recruit Lamine Yamal? He’s an excellent player. But no, we already have a very high-level team,” Mourinho explained. Having had a notable season with Barça, Yamal contributed to the Blaugrana’s title in La Liga, ahead of Real Madrid. The young Spanish international scored 16 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions.
At just 19 years old, Lamine Yamal continues to establish himself as one of the most promising players of his generation. His 2025-2026 season took on a new dimension with Spain’s victory at the 2026 World Cup. His performances on the international stage have also strengthened his candidacy for the Ballon d’Or 2026. Despite this immense potential, Mourinho insists that he does not want to try to lure him away from the great Madrid rival. The duel between Yamal and Real Madrid should thus remain sporting, at least for this season.
