Davido is already looking far beyond the spotlight. On The Uncut Podcast, the Nigerian singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, talked about the possibility of taking a long break in his career. He explained that he doesn’t necessarily see himself continuing to perform at the highest level at the age of 40, especially facing a new generation of much younger artists. However, he clarified that this reflection was not advice directed at other musicians. “Music is my passion, but I’m not going to be 40 and still compete with 20-year-olds,” he said, citing Jay-Z as an example of an artist who has managed to take a step back while remaining influential.

Davido believes that his musical legacy would allow him to be absent for several years without losing his audience. “I could take a ten-year break and still do a tour of 50 venues. I have an impressive catalog,” he assured. The singer also believes that music should serve as a springboard for other activities. For him, an artistic career is not limited to albums and concerts but can lead to many projects. “Music can help you explore other horizons,” Davido concluded.
