Cristiano Ronaldo: “It’s probably my last year of football.”
At 41, Cristiano Ronaldo is considering ending his professional career at the end of the season. The Portuguese striker, who is still playing for Al-Nassr, claims he wants to fully enjoy his last months on the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo could soon turn one of the most significant pages in football history. In an interview with Vogue, published on Sunday, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hinted that the current season might be his last as a professional player. “This year will probably be my last in football,” confessed the Portuguese international, who will soon celebrate his 42nd birthday. However, this prospect does not seem to worry him. On the contrary, the Al-Nassr player asserts that he has already thought about life after football and wants to prepare for a transition worthy of his career.
Cristiano Ronaldo mainly wants to avoid the emptiness that often accompanies the end of a sports career. After more than two decades dedicated to top-level football, the Portuguese claims to have many projects to occupy his daily life. Padel, travel, and various activities are among his options. “Football can leave a huge void,” he explained, deeming it necessary to have multiple commitments once he hangs up his boots. The Portuguese striker primarily wants to enjoy the fruits of his immense career. “I want to keep enjoying what I’ve earned, what we’ve earned,” he stated, referring to the many years of sacrifices made since his beginnings.
An Exceptional Career
Trained at Sporting Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo then made his mark with the jerseys of Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, before continuing his adventure in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr. His honors include five Ballon d’Or awards and 32 titles won throughout an exceptional career. With over 970 goals scored in nearly 1,300 matches, the Portuguese has established himself among the greatest scorers in football history.
This summer, he also participated in his sixth World Cup with Portugal. The journey ended in the round of 16, with a defeat against Spain (1-0). As the end approaches, Ronaldo now wants to ensure a graceful exit. His goal is clear: to enjoy his final moments on the pitch and leave a lasting legacy in the history of football.
