Benin: the senators in conclave for the election of the members of the bureau
The work dedicated to the election of the first bureau of the Senate began this Wednesday in Porto Novo with a minute of silence and reflection.

According to Élisabeth Pognon, the oldest member in the second position of the institution, this moment aimed to invite each senator to a moment of introspection before the selection of the officials who will lead the destiny of the new parliamentary chamber.
“This minute of introspection is crucial to question the conscience of each senator in the choice of the bureau that will be made,” she explained at the opening of the session.
At the end of this stage, media representatives were asked to leave the room to allow the senators to continue the work behind closed doors. The voting operations for the election of the bureau then began.
It is important to note that the bureau is made up of three personalities: a president, a vice-rector, and a rapporteur. They are elected for a term of five years.
