The Senate of Benin has officially set up its first Bureau. This election, held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Porto-Novo, marks a new step in the establishment of this institution as outlined in the Constitution.

At the end of the vote, Patrice Talon was elected president of the Senate. He will lead the work of the upper chamber of Parliament and ensure its proper functioning. Louis Vlavonou was designated as vice president. He will assist the president in carrying out his duties and will replace him in the event of an obstruction.

The position of rapporteur has been entrusted to Alassane Séidou, while Adidjatou Mathys has been elected as deputy rapporteur.
