Za‑Kpota: Five youths arrested by CNIN in an operation against cybercrime

As part of a targeted operation against cybercrime, the National Digital Investigations Center (CNIN) carried out a series of arrests. According to local sources, five young men suspected of involvement in cybercrime activities were apprehended during the operation. At around 5 a.m., CNIN agents raided a house well known in the Assanlin neighborhood and arrested four people.

Later, at around 7 a.m., investigators intercepted a fifth suspect near the town’s new market, just as he was about to open his shop.

This operation is part of CNIN’s ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime, a phenomenon Beninese authorities sometimes refer to locally as “gayman,” a term used for fraud and scams carried out using digital tools.

Those arrested will be brought before the courts, where they will have to answer charges of alleged involvement in illicit online activities.
