World Cup 2026: South Africa and South Korea battle for a last-16 place in Group A

So far, South Africa have a mixed record with a draw (1-1) against Czechia and an opening defeat, giving them one point. South Korea, meanwhile, have one win against Czechia and a defeat to Mexico, leaving them on three points ahead of this duel.

This head-to-head therefore forms part of an intense battle for the qualifying places in the round of 16. South Africa, absent from the knockout stages since 2010, are aiming to clear this previously unreached hurdle. South Korea, for their part, are looking to repeat their 2022 achievement by once again getting through the group stage.
