This knockout match pits two teams that had not yet played in the competition against each other. Colombia opted for a 4-3-3 formation under Nestor Lorenzo, while Ghana are playing in a 4-1-4-1 with Carlos Queiroz in charge.

The first half-hour was marked by the early introduction of Colombian substitute Luis Suárez in the 8th minute, prompting a defensive change for Ghana, with Marvin Senaya replacing Alidu Seidu in the 13th minute. A few minutes later, Jhon Arias opened the scoring for Colombia. The same player received a yellow card in the 12th minute, reflecting the high intensity in midfield.

Statistically, Colombia are clearly dominating possession (79%) and have recorded three shots, two of them on target, contrasting with Ghana’s limited attacking output of one off-target effort. Ghana seek a response with their 4-1-4-1

Ghana remain faithful to their 4-1-4-1, with Thomas Partey in the holding midfield role. The Ghanaian defensive block is made up of Gideon Mensah, Jérôme Opoku, Derrick Luckassen and Marvin Senaya, the latter having come on hurriedly. Further forward, Iñaki Williams, Caleb Yirenkyi, Kwasi Sibo, Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew are trying to compete but are struggling to find space. The lack of clear chances and the markedly lower share of possession make the task difficult for the Black Stars, who will need to be more incisive after the break if they hope to turn the situation around.
