Taiwo Awoniyi earns postgraduate diploma in sports management with distinction
Nigerian footballer Taiwo Awoniyi announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, that he has earned a postgraduate diploma in sports management with distinction from the PFA Business School. This qualification was achieved while he continues his professional career in England.
The forward specified on Instagram that the diploma is a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship. He described this achievement as an extension of his desire to continue studying football beyond the pitch.
Awoniyi expressed gratitude to the institution, his teachers, fellow program participants, as well as his family and friends. He summarized his approach by explaining that a player can remain active while also engaging in their education.
The program, offered by the PFA Business School in collaboration with the University of Portsmouth, focuses on sports management, club strategy, and the responsibilities of a sporting director. It is designed to prepare football professionals for leadership roles.
The Nigerian international has been playing for Coventry City since August 2026, following his time at Nottingham Forest. He joined Liverpool in 2015 before having several experiences in Europe, including at Union Berlin.
