Aliko Dangote reveals he bought his first private jet at 22

Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, the president of Dangote Industries explained that he fully enjoyed that period of his life. He now claims to see no downside to traveling on commercial flights.

This statement was made at the Nigerian Exchange, where the group officially launched its public share offering. Dangote Refinery’s stock operation aims to open a portion of the refinery’s capital to individual investors.

Aliko Dangote primarily used this anecdote to advocate for a shift in priorities. He urged wealthy Nigerians who spend substantial amounts on private jets to redirect more capital towards industry and production.

The offering involves approximately 3% of the refinery’s capital and targets 2.15 trillion naira if fully subscribed, according to Reuters. The minimum investment is set at ten shares, which is about four dollars.
