Galatasaray SK and its star striker, Victor Osimhen, were received on Monday evening by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as part of the celebrations for the new championship title won by the Istanbul club. The club’s delegation, led by President Dursun Özbek and coach Okan Buruk, went to the presidential palace of Dolmabahçe to celebrate this achievement with the head of state. With a remarkable season, Osimhen greatly contributed to the Lions’ fourth consecutive title. The Nigerian international scored 15 goals and provided five assists in 22 matches, allowing Galatasaray to secure the championship before the final day.
During the ceremony, the former SSC Napoli striker personally thanked President Erdoğan for his hospitality. “Thank you very much for receiving us. It’s always an honor to be here,” Osimhen said, before adding with a smile: “As our president said, we absolutely had to win the trophy to have the opportunity to meet you.” Having returned to Galatasaray last summer in a permanent transfer after a successful loan, the Nigerian scorer is now tied to the club until June 2029.
