The 16th edition of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations officially kicked off on Wednesday in Morocco, with a first day marked by contrasting results. While the host nation was held to a draw in their opener, Ivory Coast and Uganda struck a big blow in Group B.

The curtain rose on CAN U17 2026 with four matches played on Wednesday across the Moroccan kingdom. In Group B, Ivory Coast started their campaign perfectly by defeating Cameroon 2-0. Solid and efficient, the young Elephants showed their ambitions from their opening match. Uganda notched a resounding 3-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Thanks to this convincing win, the Ugandans already hold a favorable position in the race for qualification. This opening day already confirms the intensity and balance expected in this CAN U17, a showcase of Africa’s future football talents.
