FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said he was due to speak this week with his sporting director, Deco, about the potential signing of a new striker. The German coach spoke after Barça’s emphatic 5-0 win over Elche on Sunday in La Liga. Asked about the possibility of the Catalan club strengthening its attack before the summer transfer window closes, Flick struck a cautious tone. “I’ll talk to Deco, and we’ll see. We’ll see what happens this week,” he explained, according to Fabrizio Romano.

FC Barcelona could therefore still be active in the transfer market, with the club’s leadership looking to offer their coach more attacking options. Separately, Al-Hilal have submitted a €55 million offer to Arsenal for Gabriel Martinelli. According to Gary Jacob of The Times, the Saudi club now wants to convince the Gunners to let the 25-year-old Brazilian winger leave before the window closes. This push could quickly move the matter forward, with Martinelli also being courted by several European clubs.
