Zimbabwe: Mnangagwa reorganizes several institutions and appoints an electoral commissioner

Among the changes, Sheuneni Kurasha joins the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission as a commissioner. This decision was made in accordance with Article 238 of the Constitution, as reported by the presidential administration.

Emmerson Mnangagwa also appointed Leslie Ncube to head the Zimbabwe Gender Commission and Anele Ndebele to lead the Human Rights Commission. Both institutions are part of the independent commissions established by the Constitution.

In the territorial administration, Tafadzwa Muguti becomes the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works. He previously served as the permanent secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution.

The Zimbabwe Land Commission is also affected by this series of appointments. Mandivamba Rukuni has been appointed vice-chairperson, while Mabel Ndakaripa-Hungwe and John Basera are named commissioners.

John Basera, who previously led the administration of the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, is leaving that position to join the Land Commission. The appointments and reassignments announced by Martin Rushwaya take effect immediately.
