Before this match, Morocco had 4 points after a win over Scotland (1-0) and a draw against Brazil (1-1). Haiti, for their part, had been eliminated after two defeats against Scotland and Brazil. The match therefore represented one last chance for Haiti to claim a historic victory, but Morocco managed to impose their authority.

In a match full of twists, Haiti opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Bono, surprising an alert Moroccan defense. Morocco’s response came through Achraf Hakimi, who equalized in the 39th minute, before Wilson Isidor, set up by Jean-Kévin Duverne, put Haiti back in front in the 43rd. Just before the break, Ismael Saibari brought the two teams level again from a Hakimi pass, making it 2-2 at halftime.

In the second half, Morocco raised their level of play. Soufiane Rahimi, who came on in the 70th minute, scored a third goal in the 78th minute, followed by a fourth from Gessime Yassine in the 89th minute, assisted by Rahimi. Haiti were unable to respond despite tactical changes.

Morocco dominated possession with 71%, registering 22 shots, including 11 on target, and 533 accurate passes at 89%. Haiti managed to put only one of their 5 attempts on target and came under heavy defensive pressure. Haitian goalkeeper Johny Placide stood out with eight saves.

Morocco impose their collective strength and Hakimi’s activity

Mohamed Ouahbi kept faith with a 4-2-3-1 system, with Yassine Bounou in goal. The defense was led by Hakimi, who scored a goal and provided an assist, while Sofyan Amrabat and Neil El Aynaoui anchored the defensive midfield. In attack, Brahim Díaz, Ismael Saibari and Bilal El Khannouss supplied the forward line around Ayoub El Kaabi.

The second-half changes, especially the decisive introduction of Soufiane Rahimi, allowed Morocco to seal the win. Technical control and collective responsiveness enabled the Moroccan national team to overturn an unfavorable situation and confirm their status as favorites in the group.

Haiti show fight but lack attacking resources

Sébastien Migné lined up in a 4-4-1-1 formation with Johny Placide in goal. The defense was led by Jean-Kévin Duverne, Ricardo Adé and Hannes Delcroix. Defensive midfielder Martin Expérience and the creativity of Jean-Ricner Bellegarde proved useful, as did the efforts of Ruben Providence and Wilson Isidor in attack.

Despite a strong start and a favorable scoreline in the first half, Haiti lacked efficiency and depth in the second. The substitutions notably included the introductions of Duckens Nazon and Ruben Providence, but they did not change the course of the match. The Haitian national team remain in search of a first victory at this World Cup.
