The agreement takes effect immediately. Ajax acquires a player without a transfer fee, who has just completed eight seasons in England, split between Brighton and Tottenham. Technical director Jordi Cruijff highlighted Bissouma’s top-level experience and his ability to play multiple roles in midfield.

Bissouma joined the Premier League in 2018 with Brighton, after starting his professional career at Lille in 2016. Tottenham signed him in 2022. His contract with the Spurs expired this summer, allowing him to join freely after the transfer window closed.

The Malian international arrives at an Ajax squad that has been significantly strengthened. The Amsterdam club has notably recruited several experienced players in recent months and is looking to regain a leading position both in the Netherlands and on the European stage.

In his first interview with the club’s media, Bissouma expressed his readiness to start and his desire to share his experience with the younger players. Ajax, for its part, hopes he will be available for competition as soon as possible.
