The Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, praised Thomas Frank’s work and his personal qualities, after he was thanked by Tottenham following a string of worrying results in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta sent a message of support to Thomas Frank, who was thanked by Tottenham on Wednesday morning, after a string of disappointing results. The Danish coach is paying for the Spurs’ poor run, currently 16th in the Premier League, with only two wins in their last 17 league games. Under the threat of relegation that has become a concern, the club’s management decided to end his tenure after barely eight months in charge.
If he had remained in post, Frank would have faced Arteta on 22 February for the North London derby. Asked about this departure, the Arsenal manager took the opportunity to praise his counterpart. “It’s always sad news when a colleague can’t continue their work. Thomas is an excellent coach and a remarkable man; he has shown it in the league.”, Arteta said.
Before adding: « We all know that our responsibility goes beyond performance alone. I sincerely wish him all the best for the future, whatever direction he chooses. »
