Tottenham: De Zerbi rules out Richarlison ahead of Liverpool clash
Roberto De Zerbi confirmed on Monday, September 14, that Richarlison will not be included in Tottenham’s squad for the trip to Liverpool on Tuesday, in the third round of the English League Cup. The Brazilian forward remains eligible for this competition despite his absence from the 25-man Premier League squad.

Richarlison was omitted from the league roster after expressing his desire to leave Tottenham during the summer transfer window. Several potential exits did not materialize before the closure of the main transfer markets, leaving the 29-year-old under contract with the Spurs but outside of immediate plans for the league.
De Zerbi explained that he had attempted multiple times to persuade the former Everton player to remain in London and had offered him an extension. The Italian manager stated that the player did not wish to pursue this path and that the situation had not changed ahead of the League Cup fixture.
This latest exclusion comes as Tottenham faces a challenging start to the season offensively. The Spurs have failed to score in their first four Premier League matches and have only accumulated two points, marking their longest goal drought at the start of a league campaign.
The trip to Anfield will also be without Sandro Tonali and Pedro Porro, who are unavailable, while Destiny Udogie is once again available. Tottenham confirmed these details in their medical update released prior to the match.
Liverpool and Tottenham will meet on Tuesday, September 15, at Anfield for a place in the fourth round of the League Cup. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm UK time.
