Legal troubles are piling up for Raúl Asencio. The Real Madrid defender was convicted in the Canary Islands for driving under the influence of alcohol, just days before having to appear in another case. The incident dates back to August 16, in the south of Gran Canaria. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 23-year-old player was stopped behind the wheel of his Porsche with a blood alcohol level of 0.90 milligrams per liter of exhaled air. After admitting the facts, Asencio was fined 14,400 euros and given an eight-month driving license suspension.

This sanction comes as another legal proceeding is already weighing on the Madrid player. He is due to appear soon in a 2023 case concerning the alleged distribution of a sexual video recorded without consent. In this case, the prosecution is seeking a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence. On the sporting front, this succession of cases further weakens the defender’s position at Real Madrid. The Spanish club reportedly tried to find him an exit during the summer transfer window, but Asencio declined the various options offered to him. His future at the White House thus appears increasingly uncertain.
