Real Madrid: Álvaro Arbeloa extols Fran García
For a solid showing in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Elche in La Liga, Fran García received strong praise from his coach Álvaro Arbeloa, who lauded the Madrid left-back’s professionalism and commitment.

Real Madrid’s coach, Álvaro Arbeloa, did not spare praise for Fran García after the Merengues’ comfortable 4-1 win over Elche CF (4-1) in La Liga. Starting at left-back on Saturday 14 March at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Fran García delivered a solid performance, contributing actively to the Madrid side’s success. With these three points, Real Madrid moved back to within one point of the leader, FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana will, however, have the opportunity to reclaim a four-point lead in their match against Sevilla FC, scheduled for 15 March.
After the match, Arbeloa took the opportunity to praise the professionalism of his left-back, despite limited playing time this season. As Madrid Xtra reports, the Madrid coach said: “Fran García? I want to express my gratitude to him. He is an exceptional professional. Maintaining the level he achieves on a daily basis is not easy, especially without regular playing time. He trains brilliantly and is always available for his teammates, showing constant optimism. I would like to have 25 players like Fran.“
Since Álvaro Carreras arrived at the club last summer, Fran García has seen his role limited to that of a backup on the left flank of the defense. The 26-year-old has played only 17 matches across all competitions this season, seven of them as a starter. Trained at Real Madrid, the Spanish left-back had left his formative club after a single appearance for the first team to join Rayo Vallecano. His notable performances in the Madrid suburbs had convinced the Merengues’ leaders to bring him back in 2023.
Since his return, Fran García has played more than a hundred matches for the Madrid side, gradually cementing his place in the squad. Against Elche, the defender was particularly impressive with a complete performance: seven defensive interventions, one on-target shot and an assist. He also completed six passes in the final third, created a chance and delivered two long, precise passes, contributing fully to Madrid’s success.
