The former French international Christophe Dugarry did not mince his words as the Champions League quarterfinal between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool approached. After the Reds’ heavy defeat (4-0) to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal, the 1998 World Cup champion is particularly pessimistic about the chances of Arne Slot’s side.

According to him, the current dynamic clearly favors PSG. « Have you seen Liverpool play? It’s an absolute disaster! They have absolutely nothing. Sure, they have technically gifted players and their game isn’t disorganized, but their pace is excruciatingly slow, » he said, with remarks relayed by Tribuna.

Dugarry also stresses the gap in level perceived between the two formations: « When you see the intensity PSG shows today, its mental strength and everything it has rebuilt… these two teams are incomparable. It’s going to be a total rout! A real massacre. »

The former striker backs up his analysis with the English side’s recent performances: Take an example: Liverpool recently conceded four goals against Manchester City… in the second half of the season, momentum is crucial. » Last season, the two clubs had already faced each other in the competition, with Paris qualifying after a penalty shootout, following two particularly hard-fought encounters.
