Nigeria: INEC Implements Court Ruling on NDC Logo

The judgment mandates INEC to approve and publish the modified logo of the NDC, a two-finger victory sign, for the party’s activities and the elections organized by the commission. The court found that the refusal to authorize this modification infringed upon the party’s rights.

INEC’s official page dedicated to the NDC lists Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as the national president and Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as the national secretary, both noted with the same reference to the court ruling. The party’s treasurer, financial secretary, and legal advisor are also recognized as per the court order.

According to TheCable, the case was registered under number FHC/ABJ/CS/1814/2026. Judge Joyce Abdulmalik determined that the logo adopted by the NDC’s national executive committee on March 25 should be acknowledged as the party’s official symbol.

The dispute centered on the removal of the modified logo from INEC’s portal after it had initially been posted online. The NDC claimed that the previous emblem had been reinstated without explanation, prompting them to seek legal recourse.

The party has urged its candidates and supporters to use the recognized logo in their campaign materials. INEC continues to list the NDC among the registered political parties on its official portal.
