Nations League: Mbappé ill, France awaits its captain ahead of Turkey clash
Kylian Mbappé missed the France national team’s training session on Tuesday, September 22, at Clairefontaine due to flu-like symptoms. With just three days to go before the Nations League match against Turkey, no timeline for his recovery has been announced.
According to Reuters, citing the French Football Federation, the captain of Les Bleus remained at the training center while his teammates participated in the session. The Associated Press confirmed that he did not take part in the group training. Le Parisien reported that he had already been kept under care on Monday during the first session led by Zinédine Zidane.
The other 22 players called up participated in training on Tuesday. France will kick off its Nations League campaign on Friday, September 25, in Kocaeli against Turkey, marking Zidane’s first match in charge of the national team, before traveling to Belgium three days later.
Mbappé has been confirmed as captain by the new head coach. The FFF has not announced any withdrawals at this stage for the match against Turkey.
