After Walid Regragui’s departure, rumors were circulating about the arrival of Andrés Iniesta as Morocco’s technical director, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says no deal has been signed yet.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has taken steps to clarify the rumors surrounding a possible arrival of Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta to the Moroccan national team. This clarification comes the day after Walid Regragui left his post as Morocco’s head coach with immediate effect. A decision that came just six weeks after the Atlas Lions’ defeat in the Africa Cup of Nations final played at home against Senegal.
In the wake of this, several rumors circulated in the media and on social media, claiming that Iniesta had already signed a contract to become Morocco’s technical director. But in a post published Friday on X, Fabrizio Romano firmly denied these reports. “Despite the rumors, nothing has been signed or officially confirmed between Andrés Iniesta and Morocco for him to become the new technical director.”, he wrote.
The Italian journalist, however, specifies that discussions do exist. According to him, the Moroccan federation would like to entrust the former Spanish midfielder with a role as sporting director. “Discussions are ongoing, but no decision has yet been made. The final choice belongs to Andrés.”, he added.
