Manchester United: Baleba set to make his debut after the break
Carlos Baleba is nearing his debut with Manchester United. Michael Carrick has indicated that the Cameroonian midfielder is expected to rejoin the squad this week and should be in good condition following the international break, after spending several weeks recovering from an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old will remain unavailable for the match against Brighton, his former club, on Wednesday, September 16, in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Manchester United will then travel to Fulham on September 20 before the international break.
Baleba has yet to play any matches for the Red Devils since his transfer from Brighton at the end of August. The deal could rise to £70 million, and his contract runs until 2031 with an additional year as an option.
The ankle injury was sustained during Brighton’s summer preparations. On August 28, Carrick mentioned a recovery timeline of two to three weeks. The Cameroonian has since resumed training at Carrington but has not yet participated fully in team sessions.
Manchester United’s first match after the international break is scheduled for October 10 against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
