In Lubumbashi, president of the High Court of Katanga killed at home

According to initial reports from relatives and judicial sources, armed men allegedly scaled the walls of his residence before breaking windows to gain entry. They reportedly demanded money and the keys to his vehicle. Vincent Mwana Mulenda was said to have been shot in the leg and severely injured in the head. His daughter was also reportedly injured during the attack.

The Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko-Andali, announced that an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the attack and any potential responsibilities. He paid tribute to a dedicated magistrate and reaffirmed the need to protect judges and uphold the authority of the judicial institution.

The death of Vincent Mwana Mulenda has sparked strong emotions within the judiciary of Katanga. Several of his colleagues visited the morgue following the announcement of his death, while the National Human Rights Commission in the province called on security services to enhance the protection of individuals and property.

This attack occurs amid a backdrop of recurring armed violence in Lubumbashi. On September 6, two police officers were killed during a robbery at a gas station in the Kilobelobe neighborhood. The police of Katanga confirmed their deaths.

On September 19, a young man was also shot dead in Lubumbashi by individuals described as being in uniform, according to 7SUR7.CD. These incidents remain separate, and no public information currently establishes a link between them and the attack that resulted in the death of the president of the High Court.
