In Benin, 120 trainers to educate 1,160 artisans across seven trades
A program led by the Chamber of Trades of Benin in collaboration with CMA France aims to enhance the skills of 120 trainer-teachers, who will subsequently train 1,160 artisans. The Beninese Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises presented these objectives on September 23, 2026, during a progress update on the partnership.
The training will cover masonry, aluminum and wood carpentry, mobile phone repair, arc welding, refrigeration and air conditioning, as well as fuel injection pump repair.
The initiative also includes the revision and standardization of training frameworks, as well as the preparation of a skills framework and a certification mechanism for master artisans. One hundred and twenty tablets will be provided to municipal secretaries to support the Certificate of Qualification in Trades.
In June, the new phase of the partnership was introduced with a target of an additional 825 artisans. The ministry now mentions 1,160 beneficiaries, without specifying how many have already completed their training or whether this total includes the 825 announced three months earlier.
