“I don’t have a plan…”, Guardiola ahead of Manchester City – Real Madrid
Having been heavily beaten 3-0 in the away leg by Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola acknowledges that he doesn’t have a miracle plan ahead of the return at the Etihad. The Manchester City manager, however, assures that his players will do everything to overturn the situation in the Champions League.

The Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, admitted that he didn’t have a “specific plan” before the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Real Madrid. Beaten heavily 3-0 in the first leg in Spain, the Citizens will have to pull off an upset at the Etihad Stadium to hope to overturn the situation and continue their European adventure.
Conscious of the scale of the task, the Catalan coach nonetheless insisted that his team would approach the match with one idea in mind: to win. On the eve of the match, Guardiola spoke to the press: “I don’t have a precise plan for the match against Real Madrid, apart from trying to play.” The former coach of FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich reminded that football remains unpredictable.
“In a match, a lot can happen. The first thing to do is to try to win.”
The Spanish coach also spoke about the mindset expected of his players to attempt an improbable comeback:
“If, after ten years, I have to explain to our players what faith is, there is a problem. I am almost certain that we will try. We have a great opportunity.”
