Hêvié: a motorcycle taxi driver killed by a mentally disturbed man
A tragic incident occurred on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Hêvié, in the commune of Abomey-Calavi.

According to information relayed by Bip Radio, an individual described by several witnesses as disoriented and likely in psychological distress wandered the streets wielding a knife and making threats.
According to reported accounts, a motorcycle taxi driver, trying to prevent the situation from escalating, attempted to disarm the man. The intervention turned tragic: the assailant inflicted a fatal stab wound on the driver, who could not be resuscitated despite immediate assistance from residents.
Alerted, the police secured the perimeter before apprehending the suspect. The arrest was carried out with caution to avoid any further risk to local residents.
At this stage, the motivations of the alleged perpetrator remain unknown. The investigation opened will need to establish the exact sequence of events, trace the individual’s recent movements, and determine whether he was receiving medical or social care.
