Hayden Panettiere’s death ruled accidental
Hayden Panettiere’s death has been classified as accidental, more than a month after the American actress passed away at the age of 36. The Greenville County coroner’s office attributed her death to the toxic effects of fentanyl combined with several other medications.
The report also cites 4-ANPP, a compound related to fentanyl, as well as alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine. No trauma contributing to her death was noted during the autopsy, according to official findings reported on Tuesday, September 22, by the Associated Press, People, and the Guardian.
Panettiere was found unconscious on August 16 at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. Emergency responders attempted to revive her before confirming her death. Police indicated that no signs of foul play were detected, while the investigation remained open.
The established cause comes after several weeks of investigation. The DEA was notably involved in the checks conducted following her death, but did not publicly comment on its involvement.
A child star, Hayden Panettiere gained fame in the series Heroes and Nashville, as well as in several films from the Scream franchise. A two-time Golden Globe nominee for Nashville, she leaves behind a daughter, Kaya, born in 2014 from her relationship with former boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
