The events occurred in Assanté, a village in the Gbanlin Fifadji neighborhood, more precisely in the hamlet of Djahoudjihoué.
According to information gathered on site, a dispute among cattle herders ended with the death of a man, following a conflict over a sum of 120,000 CFA francs.
At the origin of the matter, the disappearance of this amount, arising from the sale of a cow. A migratory herder, passing through the pastoral camp of his colleagues, is said to have sold the animal and kept the money. The next day, the sum was missing, arousing worry and suspicion among the herders present.
Very quickly, suspicions fell on one of the group’s members. The man, accused of having siphoned off the money, had indeed given 20,000 CFA francs to a female neighbor.
Under pressure from his comrades, he eventually confessed to the offense. He says he hid the rest of the money in a nearby field.
In his attempt to recover the money, the cattle herder followed him to the hiding place. But unfortunately he was knocked unconscious along the way by his thief.
Alerted, the local authorities and security forces went to the scene where the cattle herder’s body lay to observe the facts and open an investigation. A judicial procedure has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of the tragedy and to determine responsibilities.
