The actress recalled having several relationships with women when she was younger. She specifically mentioned a relationship with an older girl in high school, which she perceived at the time as secretive. She noted that she did not have the words necessary to define her orientation back then.

Gillian Anderson is currently in a relationship with British screenwriter Peter Morgan, creator of the series The Crown. However, she clarified that the depth of her attachment would not depend on the gender of her partner.
