The meeting will review a draft agreement to establish Team Gambia 2026 as a coalition under Section 155 of the Elections Act and to adopt a work schedule for the electoral cycle beginning in 2026.

The initiative is coordinated by Halifa Sallah and Sidia Jatta. It follows several months of consultations and a meeting held on August 29 at Paradise Suites, during which participants validated a report on building a common political platform.

According to a statement from the coordinators, the future structure will include a presidential forum, a forum dedicated to the National Assembly, and several sectoral frameworks tasked with informing the coalition’s agenda.

This initiative comes amid a political landscape where several groups are seeking to structure their alliances ahead of the election. Team Gambia 2026 is pursuing its own process while other coalition initiatives are also engaged in discussions to unite the opposition in Gambia.

The Independent Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential election for December 5, 2026, with an official campaign period set for November.
