Friendly: Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-1 in Yaoundé

Beaten in the first half, the Nigerian women’s team reacted with authority by dominating Cameroon (3-1) in Yaoundé to level the two-leg friendly series.

The Nigerian women’s team reacted perfectly by dominating Cameroon (3-1), Tuesday evening at the Yaoundé Military Stadium, in their second friendly match. Beaten 1-0 in the first leg played on Saturday, Justine Madugu’s players showed a completely different face to set the record straight.

Yet it was the Indomitable Lionesses who struck first, thanks to Christiane, in the 7th minute. Stung at the start, the Nigerians gradually took control of the proceedings. The response did not delay: Chiwendu Ihezuo equalized the two teams at the 32nd minute, rewarding the Super Falcons’ rise in form. Just before the break, Rinsola Babajide completed the Nigerian dominance by giving her side the lead with a precise shot in the box (42′).

After the break, Nigeria pressed home the advantage. Michelle Alozie scored the third with a powerful header in the 64th minute, sealing the match’s fate. Solid and better organized, the African champions then controlled the rest of the game to secure a convincing victory, erasing the disappointment of the first half.
