Djidja: A septuagenarian found dead in a cistern in Adamè Houèglo
A tragedy unfolded on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Adamè Houèglo, a locality in the Mougnon district, within the municipality of Djidja. A man, about 70 years old, was found dead at the bottom of a cistern.

A well-known farmer in his community, the septuagenarian appears to have fallen into the cistern, which is normally covered. According to early testimonies, it was family members, intrigued by a suspicious noise, who discovered his lifeless body.
Upon being alerted, the police authorities and firefighters from Mougnon quickly arrived at the scene. After preliminary observations, the body was extracted from the cistern and handed over to the relevant authorities.
An investigation has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragic incident. For now, the hypotheses center around a domestic accident. The information was reported by the national daily, La Nation.
