Cotonou: Littoral prefect meets minibus drivers known as “Tokpa-Tokpa” over working conditions

The meeting was part of the ongoing consultation between the prefectural authority and professionals in Cotonou’s urban transport sector.

During the talks, representatives of the drivers and owners of these minibuses presented a detailed account of the logistical, security and regulatory difficulties affecting their daily work.

Faced with these constraints, the delegation asked the prefect of the Littoral for support and arbitration in order to open constructive talks with the relevant administrative services and find lasting solutions adapted to local realities.

Commitment from the authority to inter-administrative dialogue

After taking note of all the grievances raised, prefect Gilbert Déou Malè praised the group for its coordinated and peaceful approach. The prefectural authority reaffirmed its willingness to act as an intermediary and help facilitate dialogue between the transport operators and the various administrations involved in regulating and organising urban transport in the metropolis.
