Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has now scored more UEFA Champions League goals than his childhood idol, Didier Drogba. On Wednesday night, the Nigerian international helped Galatasaray qualify for the knockout rounds at the expense of Juventus. The powerful centre-forward opened the scoring for the Istanbul club in the 3-2 defeat at Juventus Stadium.

Despite this setback, the Turkish Super Lig champions secured their ticket thanks to a 7-5 aggregate victory across the two legs. With this goal, Osimhen lifts his total to 16 goals in the Champions League, one more than Didier Drogba (15). He thus sits second in the all-time Africa scorers ranking in the history of the competition. Guinea international Serhou Guirassy, now with Borussia Dortmund, remains the most prolific African player in the Champions League with 18 goals.
