CES Benin: opening of the 4th extraordinary session of the year 2026 under the presidency of Abdoulaye Bio Tchané
The Economic and Social Council of Benin (CES) held the opening of its 4th extraordinary session for the current year on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Scheduled to take place until August 20, this meeting also marks the very first session of the 8th mandate of the institution, now chaired by Abdoulaye Bio Tchané.
Compliance with the internal regulations and strategic plan
At the heart of the deliberations, two priority issues capture the attention of the advisers:
- Revision of the internal regulations: the work focuses on updating the internal regulatory framework, a necessary approach to align the functioning of the institution with the new provisions of the CES organic law revised in July 2026.
- Projections 2027-2031: the session marks the official launch of the drafting process for the Strategic Plan for the period 2027-2031, a framework document intended to set the main orientations and roadmap of the institution for the next five years.
A key advisory role in service of the population
As a major advisory body of the State, the CES addresses issues related to economic, social, cultural, scientific, and technical matters.
Requested to provide opinions on bills, ordinances, or decrees, the institution plays a strategic role in conveying the needs and concerns of the population to the public authorities.
