CAN Women’s 2026: seven selections already eliminated, one last spot remains to be allocated

The group stage of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations has already provided much of its verdict. Seven teams have officially left the competition before the last day of group D. These are Zambia, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Senegal, Kenya, and Tanzania, all eliminated after the matches played on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

The last ticket to the quarter-finals will be decided this Thursday during the final matches of group D. According to the competition schedule, Mali will face Ghana, while Cameroon will oppose Cape Verde. The outcome of the duel between the Malians and the Ghanaians will be closely watched. The losing team will be eliminated from the Women’s AFCON, while the winning team will keep their chances of continuing in the tournament. Cameroon, already qualified for the quarter-finals, will try to conclude the group stage with another victory against a Cape Verdean team that is already out of the race.
