Burkina Faso: the list of Stallions to challenge Benin and Argentina

Amir Abdou continues to build his team. The coach of Burkina Faso has announced a list of 24 players for the upcoming gathering, which will include two matches in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and a prestigious friendly match against Argentina. The main news once again concerns Bertrand Traoré. The captain of the Stallions is still not included in the squad, despite his recent commitment to Wolverhampton. His absence has therefore continued since Amir Abdou took over as head coach of the national team.

The technician, on the other hand, has opened the door to several new faces. Ismaël Maïga, Rachid Gnanou, and Mamoutou Ouédraogo notably strengthen the defensive sector, while Julien Bationo, Rachid Kouda, Axel Taonsa, and Bebel Doumbia make their appearance in midfield. Issa Kaboré is making his return. The attack retains a more familiar core with Dango Ouattara, Georgi Minoungou, Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba, and Ousséni Bouda. Lassina Traoré and Aboubacar Camara complete the offensive sector.

The Stallions will begin their qualifying campaign on September 25 in Ouagadougou against Benin, before facing the Central African Republic three days later. The Burkinabè team will then head to Argentina for a friendly match scheduled for October 3. This sequence will allow Amir Abdou to continue his experiments while kicking off the hostilities on the road to the 2027 AFCON.
