Benin: Romuald Wadagni sends Maouloud greetings to the Muslim community
On the occasion of the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, President Romuald Wadagni addressed Benin’s Muslim community on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

In a message published on his official Facebook page, the head of state extended wishes of peace, health, happiness and prosperity to all Muslim families in the country.
For this first Maouloud celebration under his presidency, Romuald Wadagni highlighted the fundamental principles that guide this spiritual commemoration.
“On this day celebrating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, may this moment of faith, reflection and sharing inspire us with even more peace, brotherhood, solidarity and tolerance,” the president wrote.
The head of state also urged his fellow citizens to embrace the precepts of Islam in order to strengthen national cohesion: “May the values of respect, compassion and kindness that underpin its teaching continue to guide our behaviour and strengthen our bonds within our nation.”
A first religious celebration under the new mandate
Inaugurated as head of state on May 24, Romuald Wadagni is marking his first Maouloud as president of the Republic, reaffirming the executive’s commitment to interfaith dialogue and national unity.
