Benin: Mgr Éric Soviguidi to be ordained on November 15
Beninese prelate Éric Soviguidi will be ordained archbishop on November 15, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Cotonou, the Episcopal Conference of Benin (CEB) announced over the weekend.

Originally from the Diocese of Abomey (Benin), born in March 1971 and ordained a priest in October 1998, Msgr. Soviguidi is currently the apostolic nuncio to Burkina Faso and Niger.
In an interview upon his arrival in Cotonou on October 23, he expressed his gratitude: “It is both a challenge and a grace,” he said, referring to his diplomatic and pastoral mission.
The awaited ordination represents a significant moment for the Beninese Catholic Church, highlighting both the international reach of its ecclesiastical diplomacy and the local roots of its leaders.
