Benin: alleged motorcycle thieves network dismantled in Godomey
The Republican Police announced, this Monday, the dismantling of a network of three alleged thieves operating in the district of Godomey, municipality of Abomey-Calavi.

The operation began during a routine control conducted by the officers of the Godomey police station. One of the suspected individuals, intercepted in the Womey neighborhood as he attempted to flee on a motorcycle, was arrested after a brief pursuit. He was riding a Haojue-branded motorcycle and was inconsistent about the origin of the vehicle. He finally admitted his involvement in a network specialized in motorcycle theft and burglaries.
Following this arrest, two other alleged members of the network were arrested the same night. Two more motorcycles of suspect origin were found in their possession.
The three individuals were taken into custody awaiting their presentation before the Public Prosecutor. According to the police, one of the victims has already formally identified their motorcycle among those recovered.
The investigation continues to find any possible accomplices still on the run.
