Athletics: Noelie Yarigo wins gold in the 800m in Daegu, South Korea
In Daegu, South Korea, Noélie Yarigo won the 800m in the W40 category, giving Benin another gold medal on the international stage.

Noélie Yarigo continues to write the history of Beninese athletics. The 800m specialist won the 800m final in the W40 category at the 26th World Masters Athletics Championships, held in Daegu. The Beninese athlete completed her race in 2:10.55, a time that earned her the top spot on the podium. A fine performance for the athlete, further enriching an already impressive record.
This latest title confirms Yarigo’s exceptional longevity on the international track circuit. The Beninese athlete, a specialist of the two-lap event, notably holds the national outdoor 800m record. After several years at the highest level, the «Cheetah of Pendjari» has thus added another prestigious line to her record.
Her title in Daegu is also a new highlight for Beninese sport, coming just weeks after her triumph at the French 800m Championships this past July. In Daegu, Yarigo has thus given Benin another international accolade, confirming through this victory that she has lost none of her talent or ambition.
