‘Always Lalisa’: Lisa electrifies Toronto with her intimate documentary

The world premiere took place on Friday, September 11, 2026, as part of the festival’s Gala program. Lisa, whose full name is Lalisa Manobal, drew a particularly loud crowd upon her arrival, underscoring the anticipation surrounding this project announced by Sony Music Vision.

Directed by Sue Kim, ‘Always Lalisa’ follows the artist between 2024 and 2025, during a period of professional independence after years with BLACKPINK. The documentary showcases her successes as well as the doubts and pressures that accompany the launch of a solo career.

The film delves into the preparation for ‘Alter Ego,’ her first solo album, as well as her acting debut in the series ‘The White Lotus.’ It also follows Lisa as she rehearses for her solo performance at the Coachella festival, in front of an audience different from that of her group.

In Toronto, Lisa explained that she used this break to seek new challenges and better understand what she wanted to achieve. She acknowledges that this exploration is ongoing, despite the projects already undertaken in music, television, and fashion.

Lisa has since reunited with BLACKPINK, which released the mini-album ‘DEADLINE’ in February 2026, the group’s first project in over three years. ‘Always Lalisa’ is set to hit theaters on October 12, 2026.
