Zè: a newborn found alive at the bottom of a 33 feet deep toilet
A chilling yet miraculous scene unfolded in Adohounsa, a village in the commune of Zè, in the Atlantic Department. On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a baby was found alive at the bottom of a toilet, nearly 10 meters underground. The child, a little girl, had been abandoned under atrocious conditions.
According to information reported by the site Le Potentiel, neighborhood children were the first to raise the alarm after hearing cries coming from the toilet of an unfenced house.
Quickly, the residents rallied. Using rudimentary tools, they broke the concrete slab covering the site. After several minutes of effort, they were able to extract the infant, covered in filth, but alive.
A scene that plunged the witnesses into the most intense emotion. Rushed to Zinvié Cross Hospital, the little girl was promptly taken care of by a medical team. Her life was not in danger at the time of her admission, according to a hospital source.
The circumstances surrounding this inhuman act are still unclear for the moment. An investigation was immediately opened by the security forces to identify the person responsible for abandoning the child. At this stage, no arrests have been announced yet, but the authorities promise to shed light on this case that shocks the public.
