The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the organisation of a friendly between the Black Stars and Germany as part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 World Cup. Placed in Group L, the Ghanaian side will meet Panama, England and Croatia at the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. A demanding schedule that is pushing the leadership and coaching staff to fine-tune their preparation against top-level opponents.
To that end, the Black Stars will travel to Stuttgart to take on the Mannschaft on Monday, March 30, in an international friendly. The information was confirmed by Henry Asante Twum, communications director of the GFA, who stressed the federation’s desire to pit its team against the elite of world football ahead of the global event.
Ghana hopes to address the disappointments of its recent appearances, which saw group-stage eliminations in 2014 and 2022. The Black Stars’ World Cup campaign will begin on June 17 in Toronto against Panama, before a highly anticipated clash with England on June 23 in Boston. The group stage ends on June 27 in Philadelphia against Croatia.
The 2026 World Cup will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance on the world stage, after 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022. The most memorable moment remains the 2010 South African run, when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals, coming just shy of a historic semi-final.
