Her next match will be against Mirra Andreeva, Roland-Garros 2026 champion. The 19-year-old Russian reached the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows for the first time by defeating Anastasia Potapova 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.

The quarterfinal will therefore bring together the two latest winners of the Parisian tournament. Gauff will attempt to return to the US Open semifinals three years after her triumph in New York, while Andreeva aims to extend her best run at the US Open.

Gauff had already shown a marked improvement in her serve before this match. The tournament’s official website noted that she had significantly reduced her number of double faults since Cincinnati, an important development after the difficulties she faced with this shot during the previous season.

Jovic, 18 years old, leaves the tournament after reaching the round of 16 in New York for the first time. She had to battle for over three hours in the previous round to eliminate Alexandra Eala 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 before facing Gauff.
