The Reds’ coach Arne Slot is particularly wary of Victor Osimhen, whom he regards as one of the main attacking threats of the Turkish club, as Liverpool face Galatasaray this Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

Liverpool FC coach Arne Slot expects a particularly tough duel against Galatasaray on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League. And for the Dutch coach, one threat clearly stands out: Victor Osimhen. On the eve of this European clash, Slot highlighted the Nigerian striker’s potential impact, capable in his view of turning a match thanks to his versatility and his goal-scoring instinct.

“I think Galatasaray has a lot of talented players, but their ability to move the ball quickly is probably one of their biggest strengths,” he explained. Before adding: “Of course, one of the first players that comes to mind is Victor Osimhen, who is a very great striker. He can score from crosses, he can score in different ways, and he represents a constant danger, especially when the team pushes forward quickly on the counter-attack”, Slot told the Liverpool official site.

The Reds coach also stressed that the Istanbul club’s attacking threat isn’t limited to Osimhen alone. “They don’t rely on him alone in attack. They have several very fast players. In our last match against them, Barış Alper Yılmaz gave us a lot of trouble in the first half. On two occasions, he found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper”, he recalled.

The two teams had already faced each other on September 30, 2025 at RAMS Park in Istanbul, during the Champions League group stage. That night, Galatasaray won 1-0 thanks to a penalty converted by Osimhen in the 16th minute. Having already scored seven goals in the competition this season, the Nigerian international is emerging as one of the most feared forwards of this European campaign.
