Recalled from Strasbourg, the young attacking midfielder Kendry Páez has been loaned by Chelsea to River Plate in order to gain playing time and continue his development ahead of next season.
Chelsea confirmed on Friday evening Kendry Páez’s loan departure. The young Ecuadorian attacking midfielder joins River Plate until the end of the season, after having been recalled by Chelsea from his loan at Strasbourg. The London club had decided to terminate early the 18-year-old’s loan spell in Ligue 1, an agreement having been reached among all parties to allow Páez to continue his progression in Argentina.
In the first half of the season, Kendry Páez played 15 Ligue 1 matches with Strasbourg, scoring one goal. He also took part in five UEFA Europa Conference League matches. Under contract with Chelsea for seven more seasons since his arrival last summer from Independiente del Valle, the young international is expected to accumulate playing time and experience at the highest level. This loan to River Plate should allow him to establish himself further in the first team and strengthen his chances of joining the Blues’ squad for next season.
